Thank you all so much! I feel really inspired. I don't think I have the confidence to join a running club (not at the moment at least!) and I'm tied up on weekend mornings, so I can't do park runs either, so for the moment it's just me (and Michael Johnson!)

I'm in a similar starting position to a lot of you (46, slightly overweigh, not run since...well ever!) so knowing it's possible is a big incentive to keep going!

Thank you all

Just to add that it does work.

I can do 10K now but would never even attempt longer too much muscle damage if you don't prepare right.

Same age as me I did it 5 years ago but it's a great program. Is it 10 weeks to get to 5k?

Yes, it really does work but you need to be committed, and carry on running regularly once finished. I did Couch to 5k and then the Disney Fall Feast 5k in 2017, did the Manchester 10k in 2018 and I'm doing the Edinburgh half marathon in 3 weeks time.

Lots of Dibbers have done it and gone onto amazing things running wise - you're next!

I’ve downloaded the app and DH, DD and I are planning on starting tomorrow. This thread has encouraged me - I never was a runner but keen to give it a go and hopefully I’ll have it done by the time we go to Florida!

Yes, it works.

I stuck with Laura’s dulcet voice spurring me on when using the App. I remember doing the first run, and I really felt like I was going to collapse. I thought there’s no way this will work. However, it’s surprising how quick you progress.

I’ve just done the Liverpool Spring 5K (yesterday), and the Liverpool Spring 10K (today).

Good luck to you

Yes 100% it works, did it last year, chose Michael Johnson as my coach, didnt really believe it could ever work when I started but within the time scale I was running for 40mins non stop (by running I do mean jogging not Usain Bolt!).
I sadly hurt my hip end of last year and had to stop running for some time but I am now back to it & have started part way through so as not to overdo it - I really enjoy it. I will personally never run outside only at the gym but anything to keep me fit.

It works. I did it last summer and can still run 5k. I hated running and found the first one the hardest of all. I was always saying I will never be able to run for 10 mins, 20 mins etc but I did every time. It helped me lose loads of weight. Not sure as never weigh myself but went down clothes size. Keep going. I did it with a friend and we are both so stubborn we would never give up. We do all of our runs together.

Would it work for a total non runner? Not run for years and no joke I couldn’t run for 20 seconds let alone anything else, I have a running machine which I would love to use.
