External CD/DVD Drive. Help Please

Whilst I was away my Son declared my PC to be a piece of junk and slung it.

He's got me a combined screen and computer thingy which is nice and works well. Plenty of USB ports etc. Not that I wanted to spend £600!

However I need to sometimes watch a DVD or transfer from a DVD/CD back to the computer.

I suppose I need an external thingy. Can anyone recommend one off Amazon please. Nothing special as it will be rarely used.

Thank you

Also following because I could do with an external DVD drive for my laptop too.

Tom I use this one it’s Lenovo so its unlikely to go wrong but tbh any one will work for you

amazon/Lenovo-Exte...s%2C142&sr=8-2

This one will also do the job and is half the price but for £30 I’d go for the 1st one

amazon/External-BE...ateway&sr=8-11

Thanks Keith. Looks good albeit the newer version is a lot more money.

I was thinking along the lines of circa £15 as I will hardly ever use it. As you say most will do though.

Mmm, reviews are a lot better on the Lenovo one aren't they.

Tom - don't know if I missed it but I'm guessing if it's new its windows 10 ?

I've never played a DVD on windows 10 but you *may* need some additional software.

Buy the DVD drive and try it first.

You shouldn’t need any software but if you do there are plenty of fee bee bits out there feel free to message me if you have any issues.

I didn't know if windows 10 include the required codecs to play DVDs but like you say there is plenty of free stuff out there
