Florida Road Trip

Looking for suggestions and advice please re a Florida Road trip.

We are flying into MCO and driving to Destin for 3/4 nights and then heading back down the west coast (unless there are any must do's around Tallahassee or Jacksonville). We plan to go down as far as Naples and then back to Orlando for a few days before flying home.(14 nights in total).

We like chilled relaxed walks, places like Johns Pass (some outlet shopping but not high end . Restaurants with sea views, boat trips, bike riding, bit of sightseeing but nothing to crowded.

We will be staying overnight in Clearwater so hotel recommendations welcome.

Any accommodation suggestions for other areas most welcome as well.

Many thanks

Marie

From the panhandle to Clearwater is probably the most unattractive part of the Florida coast.

I would go across to St Augustine, drive down the East coast to Fort Lauderdale, and then across to Naples and up to St Pete Beach before heading to MCO.

We stayed in Frenchy’s Oasis motel in Clearwater. Nice pool and they lend you fishing rods so you can fish off the pier at the rear of hotel. It was bliss!

Just being nosy, but why are you visiting Destin? Would a flight to Atlanta be an option? Then you're not driving the same route twice?
