Travelling down to Miami - Route and where to Stay?

Hi,

we are flying into Orlando and back from Miami. Family of 4 with kids 7 and 4.

Staying in Orlando for the first part of the holiday and then the last 3 nights in Miami.

Does anyone have any recommendations of where to stay?

Is it worth driving to say naples for an overnight, then a day at the everglades before heading to Miami? Or better heading straight to Miami?

I'm quite keen to do a day at John Pennekamp state park at the keys if we can squeeze it in.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Vero Beach. Cheap Holiday in next to the wonderful Mulligans. Half way between. Love it!

I'd stay a night in Naples but we love it there! We usually drive down the 27 if we go to Miami and last time we stayed at the Quarzo hotel which was amazing.

With you on this one! Beautiful area and so relaxing after a mad busy time in Orlando! We flew in and out of Miami last summer and stopped at Vero both ways...the beach is stunning!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn port of Miami which we got for a decent price compared to hotels on the beach and it just across the road from Bayside with lots of shops and restaurants. We did our trip the other way round to you and we visited the Keys had a 1 night stay at Naples at the Bellersara Resort which is lovely (also within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach) and on the way stopped off to do an Everglades tour.
