Mobile Train rides

Has anyone taken an Amtrak train ride from Kissimmee to Orlando? Our little boy loves trains and thought it might be a fun little day out to break up the parks. Downtown Orlando is quite pretty to wander around, we’ve been before but not on the train.

Has anyone done something similar?

There's a Sunrail service that lots of Dibbers use

sunrail/station/poinciana/

We fully intend giving it a try next time we go to the lake ride at Winter Park. Ridiculously cheap (about $5.50 for two seniors return Poinciana to WP). Avoids the I-4 as well

Thank you. I know Amtrak stop there as well, according to their website but hasn’t heard of sunrail so that’s really helpful.

He will go crackers when he sees the giant trains.

We saw a freight train roll through WP a few years ago - took about an hour

My lad would stand there for the whole hour. He’s only 3 and trains are his life 🤣

Check out this town, they often do steam train specials and there is a brilliant childrens playground right by the station.

Sunrail is a great way to spend a a day out. We have travelled the whole length of the line. It is a comuter service so fewer trains during the middle of the day. The train is double decker and we always sit up top and get a good view from train. We have found the car parks at Poinciana and the station near Florida Mall have free car parks.

This time last year we went from the Sand Lake Road station up to Winter Park and did the scenic boat tour. It was a really nice relaxing day and a great experience.

We did the Sunrail last year - parked in Kissimmee and then went to Winter Park for the Boat Tour (a short walk from the station) before heading back for BBQ at Rocking John's BBQ on Broadway in Kissimmee (our fav place in Florida to eat) and then finished up at Suhl's Rodeo for the evening

We will be doing it again this year - fingers crossed
