1 night at St. Petes

Hi

Has anybody on here stayed one night at a beach resort while having their main holiday in Orlando?
We are thinking of going to St. Petes for a day and staying over then the next day going to Busch Gardens on our way back to Orlando.

Has anyone done this?

We have just done 4 nights in St Pete beach but we have done 1 day in Daytona before and no problems. I say do it it's not that far away.

We have short stays quite often, it allows you to get a real flavour of the place.

I would give thought to a local hotel though as many of the Resort Hotels can be a little expensive when all you really need is a bed.

Do you need to tell your hotel in Orlando that you wont be there for a night or will they not notice?

I dont know I there is a need to, but we always do.

We are staying over this time in between St Petes and Clearwater at the Doubletree Resort North Redington Beach which is right on the beach.

We stayed over last year when we visisted Siesta Key for one night also.

It just means you get to those amazing sunsets and not have to worry about the drive home!

We stayed 1 night in St Petes when we stayed in Orlando last time we went. We did the Dali museum when we got there and Busch Gardens on the way back.
We are doing it again this trip and we didn't bother telling the hotel we were going away for the night.

We drove to Clearwater last year & decided to stay the night. Wasn't planned, had nothing with us, toothbrush, change clothes etc... Got travel lodge room over rd from beach and really enjoyed our time away from the parks "roughing it" the sunsets are amazing and a family of dolphins decided to pay us a visit! Had 2 full days there in total and it was wonderful!

We always do two nights in St.Petes we go to Bush then down to stay at St.Petes for the night and the next day on the beach. The hotel we stay at was reccomended to us by my friend who lives in St. Petes, its lovely right on the beach with rooms overlooking its own private beach, look it up on google its called the Grand Plaza beach resort, we love it.

This is the hotel we stayed in (Grand Plaza), really is good with a snack bar on the beach and a spinning restaurant at the top of the building.
