Dyparaxia
My son have dyparaxia as he have weak motor hand and leg, very poor writing.
At holiday, in Florida, in April was a wee bit spoilt for us as every park we went and he refused to go on Rides as he was so terrified like Spiderman, etc. We had pulling him to be with us. Not fair! Worst in Magic Kingdorm as first day he was with his nana and we decided to split up as myself, husband and deaf daughter. When we met for lunch as we find out that they were so boring as son won't go any rides or movies. We had to take him to one of 3d donald duck as he refused to wear 3d glasses. We don't know why. Same with MGM, hate muppet show with 4d glasses and shrek in universal studios that was worst for him. We were worried about Disney Cruise but turn out superb times. He loved it and crying crying when we were leaving on last day. We couldn't believe that he had a best times on Cruise and told me that he want to go back on Cruise not Florida? Otherwise, he had enjoyed himself in Florida without Rides. I wonder if anybody have like that? As we want to go back to Florida but have to think about our son dislike rides or any noise. Any suggestions? Scottishwee35

Hi Scottishwee
I am sorry that your visit to wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. There is something called "baby swap" and I got this info from magictrips Most attractions have a "switching off" option, also known as a "baby swap". This is available for those attractions where height restrictions and/or age requirements may prevent all members of your party from experiencing a ride together. It may also be used if you have a child who is timid about an attraction, even though they meet the height and/or age requirement. To take advantage of the "baby swap" there must be at least two adults in your party. When you meet the first "greeter", or Cast Member of the attraction, tell them that you would like to exercise the "baby swap". Your entire party will proceed through the line together until you reach the loading area. When you reach the loading area, one adult will ride while the other stays with the child(ren) that cannot/won't ride. When the first adult disembarks the ride the other adult will then be allowed on the attraction, at the head of the line. The adult that already enjoyed the ride then stays with the child(ren). If there's a third adult in your group they can experience the attraction twice, once with each of the switching off adults, so that the switching off adults don't have to experience the ride alone. This makes quite a bonus for them! Most rides with age and height minimums load and unload in the same area, with an exception of Space Mountain. For this attraction when you tell the first "greeter" you'd like to use this option they will phone ahead to tell "greeter two" to be expecting you. When you reach greeter two you'll be given specific directions. One of you will proceed to the ride, while the other stays behind with the kids. Whoever rides first must alert the unloading attendant that you are switching off. The attendant will then return you to the loading area via a special stairway to watch the kids. This is where you "switch off". While the second adult rides, the first adult takes the kids down the stairs to the unloading area where everybody is reunited and exits together. It seems to work well for all involved. If you use this option then you can all get to do the rides

Sorry to hear of the problems you had on your trip with your DS. You may find as he gets older his fear of rides and shows will lessen. The child swap described above would work well for you and cut down on the time you need to spend in line at rides.
Our DS is disabled and enjoys a few rides, but not all of them are suitable for him. He doesn't really like the 3D glasses either. He has found other things that he does enjoy and we make sure we spend as much time doing them as we do on rides. Sometimes we split up so our DD can ride with me while DH (who doesn't like many rides either) takes DS. He really enjoyed collecting character autographs and also the pressed pennies, he has quite a collection of each now. He also likes to spot the Hidden Mickeys around the parks and resorts. He really enjoys the parades and fireworks so we feel he gets a lot out of our visits too. |

We used the baby swap often when my DD's were younger. One will go on anything the other doesnt like loud noises, dark, fire etc. My husband has been trying to get her to watch Indiana Jones for years but she can remember what it was like when she was small.
Sometimes it is the fear of not knowing what is going to happen that stops them too. It took us from when she was 18month until she was 9 to get her on to ET as the waiting area is dark and my DH allways gave in to her crying and took her out. Then when she was 9 we kept him away and made her go on. Guess what ! Yes she loved it and went straight back on. But you do get some strange looks when they are crying and you make them go on still. Now when we go we just do stuff the kids want, they love the water parks too
