1 night at the beach

Hi all

We are thinking of staying over for 1 night at the beach instead of our usual day trip this year. We have done Clearwater & Sarasota before. Was thinking of Fort Desoto this year but not sure if there's much to do. We have 2 boys aged 9 & nearly 7 when we go. They will be fine on the beach but what got us thinking of staying the night was reading trip reports at Clearwater, people sitting out having food & drinks and entertainment around for the kids, it looks lovely. We will be doing a longer stay at the beach in 2018 & will probably do AMI then so with all that in mind, would you recommend Fort Desoto for one night or do you think we'd be better staying at Clearwater?

There is no accommodation at Fort de Soto. Stay at Pass a Grille.

Hi codym, we are thinking of doing an overnight at the beach and I'm thinking Clearwater or Sarasota, you mention that you've been to both. With would you recommend. It would be my wife, me and our 15 month old. I hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks

Arsenal, its been 7 yrs since we went to Sarasota, I was at the outlets in Ellenton & got chatting a girl working there, she told me we had to visit the beaches around Sarasota, that they were fabulous, so we did & she was right. Clearwater is closer though so we've just gone back there for day trips as it's easier.
