Washington DC

Hi all

Can someone put their sensible head on for me!

We've just priced up a mini break to Washington DC for February half term. It's somewhere we've always planned to go (ive been before when I was a teenager, but my DH and children have never been). I assumed we'd go when the boys were older (they are 12 and 9 now), but my eldest DS came home from school really excited last week, as they are doing a whole year in his history class on US history.

We are visiting NYC next month, so he will know lots about 9/11, Ellis Island etc, so that will help his projects, but they will also be learning about Abraham Lincoln, and I remember being very interested in Fords Theater and Gettysburg when I visited DC as a child. So whilst it wasn't in our immediate plans, I am now thinking that it would be great to visit whilst DS is so keen and interested!

I've priced up 5 nights at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill with British Airways and it's coming out at £500 each - so £2k for the four of us. Does that sound like a good deal? (I can't tell whether it is a good price, or if I'm just getting carried away at the thought of an extra holiday! )

Don't know about the prices, but DC is a fabulous place to go.

Sounds like a good price to me - prices for direct flights were close to £500 alone when I was last looking to go

Have a lovely time...my kids ages 6 and 9 absolutely loved Washington. They particularly loved the National Museum of the American Indian... it has a section just for kids and they thought the huge quiz game and balancing on the skateboard/kayak was lots of fun.
