Toronto
It's DH & I's 20th wedding anniversary in November and we have been looking at a few ideas. We can only go for a short break as he is has to work. We've done most of the European city breaks to death and although I love NYC I have a big birthday next year and that's where I'm going back to!
Toronto came up on a good deal with BA and we both quite fancy it. Anyone been who could recommend it (or not!)? We can only go for 3 nights which I know is long flight for a short time but it's not putting us off really! |

We went to Toronto last year and loved it - would go back like a shot. We found it cheaper to go to Toronto for 5 nights than a long weekend in Venice! Now we did go at a different time of year than you'd be going, so we were lucky enough to be there when it was warm.
Have a search for Toronto trip reports - am sure Abiknox did a Winter trip report there.

We are off there next month, there is so much to do it looks like an amazing place to visit.
If the weather is a bit cold/wet everything links up via "The Path" so it's weatherproof really. Go for it...

We did 3 nights in Toronto this summer en-route to Disney, absolutely loved it! Could easily spend longer there, lovely clean city, like New York but without the 'bustle'. We did a day at Niagara Falls, not sure how feasible that is in November, but Niagara-on-the-Lake was lovely too. Would book it like a shot! Highly recommend Omni King Edward hotel.

We went on a family trip last April and absolutely loved it. So much so that DS1 is arranging to spend his placement year from uni there.

I've had a couple of longer trips to Toronto (one winter, one summer) and would go back in a heartbeat!

We visited last year and really enjoyed it. We did have a few more days than yourself, but you shouldn't have a problem filling the time!
Worth a visit to the CN Tower - we booked the two course dinner in the 360 restaurant, which cost around C$65, but considering it was over C$30 just to take the lift to the viewing platform, not a bad deal. We also used the Hop-on/off bus tour which took us out to Castle Loma on the outskirts of the city - a pleasant half day trip. Niagara Falls is a day trip away and worth renting a car for the day. We really enjoyed the falls area and the boat ride, but didn't particularly care for the "downtown" area which was really commercialised. Much nicer was Niagara on the Lake, a small town about 10-15 mins drive away, where we had a good look round and also had dinner before driving back to Toronto. Also worth taking your passport if you want to walk across the bridge that links to the US. I did a trip report (shameless plug! ) which can be linked from the signature if you would like some further ideas. Edited at 09:48 PM. |
