Great review, Glad you eventually got to enjoy BLT. It is a great resort and our first home resort. You mention all the great positives, one slight negative is the extra drive to get to off site restaurants (we rarely eat on site).
Also, have learned something new - I never knew about the boat hire, despite staying there 6+ times. Will have to check that out in August. |

Good review YT.
We are staying at BLT for the first time early Feb and looking forward to it, will be another DVC resort ticked off the list. We are doing a split stay, in a studio, 6 nights BLT then 5 in OKW and even though we have been in a studio room before to look at them, I'm hoping living in it for 6 nights wont be too much of a squeeze ! The boat looks great and something to put on the itinerary

How many of you are there? 4 is a squeeze in the studios, although not terrible. Staying in a 1 bed here is the way to go if you can afford the points- I was expecting large, but the living area on the outside rooms is huge, I was surprised at the size which is on a par with OKW, in fact ours may even have been bigger, with huge panoramic windows.
I am sure you will still enjoy it in the studio, you’ll just miss the wow factor of the room. Definitely do the boat.

The outside one beds are far better than the inside. Although we own at BLT we’ve never booked standard view...the inner courtyard rooms are not my cup of tea. I wouldn’t want to risk a ground floor room either.
Although the studios are small compared to other DVC Resorts, they have loads of storage.

Can you say what was wrong with the room please? Will give us BLT owners an idea of what’s going on and also what to look out for!

The room had a strong acrid smell. So bad it hit you as soon as you opened the door, and my kids had to immediately leave and sit in the corridor as it was vomit inducing. Something had gone very wrong, they’d tried to get rid of it- I heard someone on the phone mentioning a machine hadn’t worked, no doubt why it was 7pm before they told us the room was ready. We should never have been given that room.

What a shame you had such a problem to start your stay there but with unlimited FPs and compo it sounds like a good recovery in the end.
BLT is one of my favourites too especially for the special fireworks at NY and July 4th. It's fabulous being able to leave the MK at the end of the night with just a short walk home. Totally agree with you about the quality of the rooms too. Especially the 1 bed and 2 bed rooms on the outside. So much space and amazing views. Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday overall. |

I have to mention your view. We stayed at the same time you did and paid for a theme park view. What we got was a view of the walkway to the contemorary main building and if you stood in the corner of the balcony you could see the fireworks at night. Thats not good enough. I know they have made changes to what constitutes a themepark view over the years but your original view which sadly didnt last, was so much better than a paid for room. I am not surprised they had a lot of complaints about rooms with worse views than ours!
We also had the issue of sitting out on the balcony being anything but private due to being the same floor and next to the walkway.
