Letting The Restaurant Know You’re Celebrating
We have an ADR for California Grill in May as we will be celebrating a 60th birthday. When I made the ADR I was hoping that I’d be able to add a note about this being a celebratory meal but I didn’t see anything. How can I let them know? Is it worth getting in touch beforehand or just leaving it until we check in? I wasn’t too bothered about a window table here as we will head outside for fireworks, but I’ve just seen a review where the party were sat in the back of beyond, and this concerns me a little.

When you check in for your reservation they normally ask you if you are celebrating anything special. If they don't, I would say something then so they have time to prepare your server. However I am not sure it will help you get better seating because if you have booked at peak time.. there may only be your waiting, pre-assigned table free at that moment. I hope it is amazing and you get a great view!
I am also not aware of it being possible to contact the venue before hand. Great question on that one!

You have to do it by phone now. Worth giving them a ring,

I'd definitely give them a ring and get it added to your reservation. We were celebrating our anniversary when we were out there and we got a window table and lots of nice little touches

We celebrated our Golden Wedding anniversary last February at Narcoossee's. I went ahead and told them that it was a special day and asked for a window seat so that we could watch Wishes.
We both had three courses and they also gave us an extra dessert free plus a badge. Sadly they had to write 50th on it with black felt pen. Mick

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there, despite phoning and adding it to our booking and being asked when we checked in, they sat us overlooking g the roof pipe worK. Coupled with the fact when we went to watch the fireworks, they had cleared our table of everything and were trying to seat somebody else.
Worst meal service and food ever Jules

Worth telling them for sure, but also worth noting that most people are celebrating something when asked, we got some lovely touches on our honeymoon mind you.
