I saved quite a bit buying base tickets and didn't feel like we missed out or were restricted (we were staying on site too). However for Universal, I have not found the price difference between unlimited vs day tickets as significant.

We are still debating what to do about tickets this year. DH and DS have said they are not fussed at all about Disney (heretics) so we may just get unlimited 14 day Universal and 1 day at MK for a quick Mickey fix. Seaworld is also being discussed - the boys are keen, DD and me not so much.
Travel republic were doing a great price on universal 14 day, just fyi
I only wanted 2/3 days but was cheaper for 14 days from TR

Thanks for the tip Mrs B. I have found £145 on American Attractions but haven't thought about Travel Republic for just tickets. Will keep an eye on them until we make our mind up

We usually go for a 14 day Disney ticket & a Multi Day one for Universal. We don't tend to bother with the SeaWorld group of parks.

We buy all park tickets if funds allow, if we can't afford all then we loose Disney and buy the flex plus pass.

We do the 14 day Disney and last time we did the Universal 14 day (only use 2 days though) - the Disney tickets are better value for us so we'd lose Universal if needed to cut costs some trips. We don't do Sea World but may go to KSC / Busch on some trips.
Always Disney though!

Last time we went for three weeks and will be doing so again on our next visit. We'll probably go for something like this again on our next visit.
Disney 14 day ticket for days 1 - 14.
Seaworld ultimate 14 day for days 7 - 21.
Universal 14 day (2park), ticket for days 7 - 21.
Mix in a few shopping days, a trip to KSC and maybe a BlueMan group / Cirque du Soleil and thats us broke for the next two or three years...
