Visiting Hoover Dam on a Saturday?

I am planning a trip to Hoover Dam when we go to Vegas, and origionally we were going to do it on a Friday, early morning.

Due to a shuffle about of plans, thinking about this now on the Saturday, but what are your opinions? Would it just be too busy or has anyone visited on this day and found it ok?

How far is it to get there from the strip please?

Thanks in advance!

It was 2004 when we last went but I am hoping to go again in November so my experience might not be as up to date as others on here.
I think as long as you get an early start and beat the tour groups you will be fine. It's about 30miles from the Strip (so about 40mins+ depending on traffic). It might be worth combining the Dam with some time at Lake Mead as well.

Remember to be very touristy and have a picture taken of you standing either side of the state line/time zone.

We did the Hoover Dam trip in the middle of the week and it was'nt that busy. Our tour guide said the queues to get into the Dam area can be 2 hours (due to the strict security checks ) or more at weekends but if you are going early it should'nt be too much of a problem also once they open the new bridge (not sure if that will be before you go ) it will take away alot of traffic.

We really enjoyed our visit it is an amazing place huge.
