My mum suffered with alzheimers from the age of 65 and I know how difficult it can be coping. We found social services and age concern to be a great help.

Your mum needs to request a Carers Assessment from the local authority- this will open the door to respite care- funded if she is under the £23k income limit.
Your dad can also have a community care assessment to establish his own needs and can often be done at the same time as the carers assessment.

Hope you get something sorted.
I volunteer at a Singing For The Brain course run by the Alzheimer's Society and it is amazing seeing the benefit something as simple as a singalong has for people with Alzheimer'. Having lived through 7 years of my gran's dementia and the effects on my grandad, I know how vital respite can be.
