Nearly decided on itinerary
Think we are finallly there with deciciding on our west coast trip for next year, this is our plan so far😃
Fly into San Francisco(3 nights) Yosemite(3 nights) Monterey(2 nights) ? (1/2 nights) LA(4 nights) San Diego(4 nights) Anaheim(3 nights) Fly home from LA So it’s the couple of nights in the middle I’m stuck on, what would you west coast experts say is the best place to stay, either one night in a couple of places or 2 nights somewhere, thinking San Luis Obispo, Solvang or Santa Barbara, which is best placed for breaking up the trip? Thanks |

We did a 1 n stop there and drove to Monterey, it was a long day with lots of stops but you could certainly stop somewhere in between. Have a look at the places you want to stop and make a call.

We stayed at Pismo beach for one night on the drive down to LA, nice beach town with a laid back vibe, we really enjoyed it

We stopped at Cambria for 1 night and then Santa Barbara for 1 night - they were the only single nights we did but thought it was worth it so that our drive didn’t feel rushed. We knew we wanted to visit Hearst Castle and that would take a few hours out of the day so didn’t want to just treat the PCH as a motorway! It definitely depends on whether you’ll be stopping anywhere en route but those 2 spots we stayed at were great!

My vote is Santa Barbara too. We've stopped at Cambria, Pismo Beach (both fine but quite like our own seaside towns) and San Luis Obispo. SLO is fun - we stayed at the Madonna Inn in a cave room and had a lovely evening my the pool followed by dinner in their restaurant but Santa Barbara is stunning. if you do go with it try a sunset boat tour. We stayed at the Marina Beach motel across from the beach - spotlessly clean, free breakfast and reasonable for the area.
