First day ADR?

Hi,
I'm just looking at choosing my ADR's but was wondering about the first evening? We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, will we be able to just do a walk in to somewhere like Boma? We can't really book as not sure what time we will arrive? Or is there a quick service place at AKL?
Many thanks for any suggestions

We're first timers staying in AKL as well. The QS restaurant there is called The Mara. Its got decent reviews on here. It's where we plan to eat the night we arrive before collapsing

I would stick with QS the night you arrive. You never know exactly what time you'll get there (maybe delays) and quite often feel a bit out of sorts. We've always found we're never actually that hungry...a pizza or something between us usually hits the mark

We stayed at AKL in December and can confirm there is a QS.

The first night we landed on the Virgin flight at 6, and didnt get to the hotel until 9pm and were shattered, definitely couldnt have faced Boma which is an eating challenge!

Go for the QS, The Mara isnt massive but definitely sufficient, we always opt for something simple like nuggets on the first night, but they have sandwiches and salads too.

I'm also staying in AKL and I'm just planning to grab something from Mara (QS) when we get there. I think we will be too tired to want a sit down meal.

As others have said maybe stick with QS on your first night. I've always found I'm not overly hungry on the first night. I don't think I could have a proper sit down meal, we pick up something from the food court and head back to our room.

Over the years we have gone from having a sandwich each, to sharing one sandwich to now not bothering!
Both of us found we were shovelling it down at circa 8.30/9.00pm and not even enjoying it.
Just drink loads of fluids to try and get back to some sort of normallity after such a long journey.

Thanks everyone. For some reason I didn't see The Mara when I was looking into places to eat ! It looks ideal.

I think it depends what time you arrive. We normally just grab something from the resort QS place bit last year we had an early flight and fancied something more substantial so went to Olivia's at OKW. It's always easy to get a walk up there. Boma probably isn't so easy but if you fancied it you could always try and if the answer is no there's always The Mara.

We also tend to have a QS meal, a quick look around and then crash out as so tired and you know you'll be awake at 4am! We like to book a character breakfast for our first morning!
