Cheap flights, anyway to claim back if we cancel.

I’ve found amazing flights for next year to Florida. We will only go if things are ‘normal’ and free/reduced dining is introduced.
The flights are non refundable though as they are so cheap. Is there insurance I can get to claim back if I just don’t want to go.
I’m aware this is probably a stupid question it’s just they are such good flights and DH won’t book if we can’t get our money back.

As far as I am aware insurance generally doesn't cover "disinclination to travel" which is what you are talking about. You might find a specialist insurer but the cost could be quite high wiping out any savings on the cheap fare. Tickets which allow a free refunds are very expensive.

I'm not aware of such insurance either.

Whilst things may return to "normal", we're unlikely to see free dining return for next year. I would take the view that if you're not prepared to travel with the current restrictions imposed in the parks etc. then you probably shouldn't be booking unless you can afford to "lose" that money.

it is unlikely that things will be completely normal by then - i doubt they will offer free dining but they may offer some sort of paid dining.
If you can afford to lose the flight money ( how cheap is cheap? ) then book.

I think we have to remember that different countries are in vastly positions, and with different outlooks. Return to normal in one place may mean absolutely nothing somewhere else.

Can u add 1 night hotel onto the flights, making it a package? That way you only need to pay a deposit now. You would still lose that deposit if you decide not to go, but better than thousands and it locks in the cheap fare

Insurance covers unknown events, you booking flights during a pandemic and then deciding you don’t fancy it go as the pandemic has not cleared up is on you, not insurance etc. No one will cover this.

There’s a reason these flights are cheap. The risk is for you to take...

Nobody is going to offer an insurance policy cover change of mind. Best option would be to look at deposit based fly drive option, and at time of balance due you can decide on your options to proceed or cancel,
