Mobile Odd air con question!

Last time we used the air con in a hotel room our DD ended up full of a cold, apparently because the systems dry out your nose and throat. How do people make use of the air con, do you leave it on 24/7 or switch it on and off. Staying onsite and unfamiliar with the system there.

Use it 24/7. If you nose gets too dry, leave out a small bowl or cup of water.

Usually when we come in after the parks housekeeping have set it to sub zero so we reset the temp. The air con is on constantly though. In September we couldn't not have it on. Never found any problems with dryness or getting the cold.

We always go in summer and start off the first few days having it on 24/7 then we acclimatise and do tend to turn it down a bit. Depending on what resort you're staying at some rooms have a ceiling fan and we usually find by the second week we can sleep with just the fan on or with the fan and air con turned down low.

We've always been lucky to get a room that is always in the shade so that may make a difference.

Whatever you do don't run the air and then open the window for some fresh air. A stupid English family did that at a friends rental and left him with a $1500 electricity bill.

You can't catch a cold from air con alone, it is still from a virus, but the colder/drier air etc can make people more vulnerable to catching a cold.

Good advice as it's more common than some may think.
