Seat Selection for Couple
Hi All,
just looking at booking seats for our trip in September, flying with VA on the 747-400. We were going to upgrade to premium economy, but have missed out to the early birds. Our choices now are Exit Row, Extra Legroom, or right at the back he row of just two seats on their own at the side. My girlfriend wants to sit on our own as then we are not disturbed by anyone having to get up and go out for a walk. My idea is to go for an exit row, but have a few questions about that: Do you sacrifice any seat width for the fact that the screen and table are in the armrest? Is there USB power in the exit rows? thanks in advance |

Can’t answer your questions about the exit row, but we sat in the very last two seats last year and loved it. We didn’t have to worry about annoying a stranger every time we needed the toilet or a walk and we could recline without worrying about annoying the couple behind us, so I can definitely recommend those seats 😁

We are back row fans.
Pros: No one else in your row Near the loo (which can also be a Con) You can recline without bothering anyone Cons: Last off the plane Near the loo (see above!) They might run out of your choice of food before it gets to you

My youngest DD and I are travelling next October. We have booked seats 79 A/C in the bubble on the outbound journey. We don't mind having a stranger sitting next to us as we read, watch movies etc. On the return journey we have booked the last row of two downstairs. We have had these seats before and find it easier to try and get some sleep if it's just the two of us😴😴😴😴😴.

Yes the seats are slightly more snug than the non exit row seats because of the tv’s in the arm rest and the tray table. Personally I hate my tv and tray table being in the armrest.
I wouldn’t sit on the back row as the seats usually don’t fully recline and the disturbance from people using the loos, yuck Edited at 06:51 PM. |

If they offer the middle section in ELR (not sure if it's just window section or not) I would take a pair there. You still get the extra space but being in the middle, the person next to you will exit out into the opposite aisle so no disturbance.
If not, I'm still a fan of the middle pairs. They tend to book slower than the window seats as well, so better chance of being towards the front to be off the plane faster. |

In VA economy we always get the extra leg room, not the exit row for a few reasons - narrower seats, arm rest tvs, less privacy, people stood in 'your' space stretching their legs etc.
