Volcano Bay express pass question?

Not sure if anyone will know the answer to this as I don't think the express passes have been around that long at volcano Bay.

The express pass gives you one ride on some or all rides depending on which version you buy. I'm assuming that it gets loaded onto your tapu tapu.

What happens if one of the rides only has a virtual line of about 15 minutes so you decide to use it saving your express pass for later in the day. How would the ride/tapu tapu know this is what you intend to do?

I'd like to know this, but my gut feeling about how such systems usually work is that you wouldn't be able to, your express pass would get used the first time you enter a slide that doesn't have 'ride now' status.

I'm going to assume that the Express pass negates the wait for a time slot, but not the actual queue for the slide once you're in, since I doubt they'll have separate pathways. To that end, I'd still really like someone to measure the queue times inside the entrance for the various slides at VB. It's very difficult to gauge how long we'll spend queuing, even with an express pass, at this rate. This is certainly data I intend to collect myself when I visit but it'd be nice to know beforehand!

If you use the normal line you would scan your tapu tapu at that entrance to get your return time.

I believe the express line and tapu tapu are in a separate part so when you scan the machine knows you have your 1 go still remaining.

So is the express pass still done with a wristband rather then loaded onto the tapu tapu? Potentially more useful in this case but that sounds a bit low tech!

Even when you have tapped in, you will still have to wait in a queue. We waited about 10 - 15 mins most times.

Yeah that seems to be about the norm, but thanks for confirmation - what sort of reservation times were you looking at during your visit? I assume on days where you see reservation times of 100+ mins for many slides, the 'post-reservation' queue times will be longer than when they're mostly 15-45.
