Overall views of resorts
Hi all
after lots of planning just going back to basic overviews... For universal we are staying on site and I have found a resort guide so I have an idea of layout - presume you walk everywhere, no sign of bus routes etc. How long does it take say to walk from Pacific Hotel to Volcano Bay etc For Disney staying offsite so appreciate that will largely just park up and then get shipped in. But again is there an overall map showing all the different parks and how to get between them if we wanted to... how long does it take from car park to front entrance for any given park for example or to to get from park A to park B and how do you do it? Sorry for the vague Q's but again trying to get my bearings and I have no idea what time to arrive at a park for in order to get to my FPs on time! Thanks |

There is no magical answer to this one I’m afraid! We stayed on site at Universal for a few days... you basically just walk
Or get their river boats. I think there are some courtesy buses to VB but we didn’t use them. Disney... oh the joys of crowd control. Regardless of when you get there parking your vehicle is relatively easy. You will be guided to a spot and everyone parks in order. You will not your area (by character) and jump on a tram for which there is often a few mins wait or walk to the main gates. You will need to judge for yourself if the tram is a better option? The later you arrive the further from the gates you will park and a tram may be most welcome given the walking you will do that day, however in Epcot for example most people seemed to walk. The only exception to this is magic kingdom... you need to leave yourself plenty of time to get in here as it’s trams and monorails and it does take a little longer. The gates are easy enough to navigate but if you are taking a bag in you will need to go through search as well as the main entrance gates. Again they do queuing systems and crowds controls like no other... you are through in no time. I would try and give yourself an hour to park and get through the gates ahead of a FB. Each park has great individual maps but I’m not aware of a map that tells you how to get from One to the other? Once you are in the Disney area though it’s so well signposted you will easily move between sites if you wish to |

My laughing place will give you a good guide on travel times between parks.

Shows all the parks. I've been trying to find the Touring Plans table which shows travel times but it's probably paywalled. I would allow 40 to 50 mins from all car parks to the ride for all parks bar Magic Kingdom. For MK, I'd allow 50 to 60 depending on where in the park it is. You will have to park and then walk to tram stop and wait for tram or else you can walk from car to the park if parked reasonably close. (15 min). Then you need to enter the park and get your bag checked and ticket /fingerprint check. (10 min or longer if it's early morning) Then walk to the ride (10 to 15 depending on where in park it is) Magic Kingdom takes longer as car park isn't directly in front of the park. The buses will take you closer to the parks but the travel times from your hotel may vary depending on traffic and distance to the park feom your hotel. Laughing place mentioned above will give you a good idea

There are various maps in the DIBB's Park and Resort Map section:
https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/Par...aps-p-239.html So, for example, there's a 'simplified' road map of the area around Disney World (similar to the one above) as well as a general Disney World property map. Disney World is a big place - as big as Greater Manchester - and each park has it's own car park. So you drive to a park's car park and then walk to the entrance of the park. If you then want to go to a different park, you go back to the car park, get into your car and drive to the other park's car park - which will be several miles away. You can also get buses between the parks, and the monorail between Epcot and Magic Kingdom, and a boat between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Very roughly, it can take *approximately* 20 minutes to drive between parks, not including the time to get into/out of the parks and wait for the next bus (or get to your car).
