Sorry didn't mean to confuse you.
First of all check your car hire details. There's a good chance with Alamo that you'll have CDW and $1m SLI anyway. If you have you're good to go. If you don't have these then ask your holiday company for a price to upgrade to them. Independently get a price for car hire from one of the companies I mentioned earlier - say Alamo Brits - they will include all insurance. If that separate price is better than the "upgrade" cost then ditch the included car. First step before anything else is to check what's included anyway. Might be worrying over nothing. Mick

If you hire with usrentacar they give you the option to select Silver, gold or platinum, all of them are fully inclusive insurance (all that you need while driving out there). so, silver is the cheapest but you could only have 1 driver with silver insurance, if u want more drivers then take the gold insurance. Have a look at their website and do a dummy booking.

In my opinion it is close to criminal for any holiday company to only offer the state minimum SLI in a litigious country like the USA. Every other advert on the local TV will be an ambulance chasing lawyer.
And don't forget that, unless you're flying into SFB, you can "skip the counter" with Alamo. Go straight to the garage and pick your own car and avoid the terminal desks. Mick

Skipping the counter is brilliant! We done this for the first time this year and thought it was fab!

In my opinion you need to add the CDW and $1m liability cover. Ask them for a price.
Sorry I need to log off now. Hopefully others will continue to help. Will pick up again tomorrow. Mick
