The Theme Park Timeline makes it look worse than it actually is. Someone (I won't name who ) decided to include all the little shops and kiosks that closed when part of the park was demolished to make way for Star Wars Land. Also some things have been renamed and tweaked a bit but are essentially the same thing.

In summary, what's closed since 2014 mainly amounts to the Backlot Tour, Lights Motors Action stunt show, Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area, and the Great Movie Ride. And the Magic of Disney Animation building has become the Star Wars Launch Bay.

Yes, instead they've added a bunch of Star Wars stuff - such as the aforementioned Launch Bay, Galactic Spectacular firework show, and the March of the First Order 'parade'. They've also added Toy Story Land, which includes two new rides. By the time you go, they may have opened Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, which replaces the Great Movie Ride.

So, for you, I guess it depends on whether you think the addition of Toy Story Land with Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers makes up for the loss of the Backlot Tour, Lights Motors Action, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area.

They definitely didn’t close anything I’m missing but I how good a park DHS is now is a very personal thing. I love Star Wars so DHS is much better now that it was. We used to do it in a couple of hours but now go back several times. Once Galaxy’s Edge opens we’ll probably spend most of the holiday there!

I've never been the biggest fan of MGM/DHS (it's always been my least favourite park), but I miss that vintage movie feel it used to have. I liked the throwback to the classic films that was so prominent everywhere. I do like Star Wars but DHS is starting to feel more and more like a Star Wars park that other attractions have dared to intrude upon.

I'm hoping that once the star wars bit opens they will perhaps make a few changes so that star wars is less spread out and other things get the attention they deserve.

I love Star Wars but dislike Harry Potter, so similar to what happened at Universal

I kind of feel Harry Potter stays within its areas at universal. Where as it’s difficult to get away from Star Wars at Hollywood studios... it’s all over the place, from star tours to launch bay to the march to the show, then it’s going to have its own land too.
