Ours is nearly 4 years old, new build show home, was here 2 years while the rest of the development was being sold, we were one of the last to move in about 2 years ago. Never imagined I'd buy a new build but we love the area and houses this size don't come on the market often.
For a new house it has a bit of character, but it's not the same as an old house. I've been happiest in Victorian houses. Love a sash window and a pretty fireplace. |

My current house was built in 1920, so 102 years old.
I don’t like it. The walls are paper thin and I can hear my neighbours cough, wee & sneeze! The gable end wall is a crumbling wreck and the condensation damp in the living room is making a mess of the walls… We are in the process of buying a dormer bungalow built early 70’s, so it’s around 50 something years old. Im looking forward to the change. |

Mines a combination
The original house is a 1930s style 3 bedroom semi and in 1989 we built an extension enlarging the kitchen, adding a downstairs loo and utility room and 2 rooms above that in the roof space |

Yes it’s a bit of a random layout. It doesn’t actually have a hallway. It has like a little vestibule area just as you walk in the front door and then straight to the left is the living room.
Once you’re through the living the room, there’s a big open area with the stairs and other rooms leading off! Luckily we have a gate around the side and a conservatory on the back with double doors so that we can always get furniture through there if needs be. We might need to send the American fridge freezer in that way as it might not turn the corner at the front! |
