I would have it with cream, we haven’t had it for ages. My ds used to Make them at school a lot, dh would have custard because he loves it!

Gotta be custard, hot with hot.

My grandad used to spread the bread with marmalade, it was lovely.

I said I’d make one for the first time in years this weekend, I like it with cream, I love hot desserts with cold double cream, I’ve never tried it with custard but I guess it would be nice

Mum always made it with marmalade ( Dundee born and bread and I think had to be Keelers ) and we had marmalade’s sauce ie heated marmalade and if you were lucky the top off the milk and it was to use up the last of the bread in winter in summer it was summer pudding and that has to be clotted cream home made or bought
Oh and Delia Smith chocolate bread and butter pudding the only type of chocolate pudding cake I eat but that’s has to be with Black Forrest cherry sauce and loads of cold clotted cream heaven on a plate
