Iphone issue with keypad

I have tried searching for the answer but find it too difficult to describe in a short sentence to do the search.

The issue is this.

I dial a number. No issue with keypad it recognises every key stroke easily.

However when connected to number lets say I am given a series of choices. Dial one for bla, dial two for bla

I press the appropriate number, I can see on the screen the number has been pressed but the system does not recognise I have done it. I have tried long presses, repeated presses, every type of press I can think of. Sometimes it works seems to be random though.

Cannot work out how to solve this.

Have you tried a soft reset of the phone? press and quickly release volume up, same with volume down and then hold in the side lock button until the apple logo appears.

Won't delete anything

Yes, tried that a couple of times.

I get this too but it is not consistent - well except that when I call the doctors it never recognises the buttons pushed, but everyone else does.

Is it just a few places or all your calls where you need to make further choices via the keypad?

Yes, just a few places. This may very well mean the issue is at their end of course.
