All-Star Music Resort verses All-Star Movies Resort/POP
Im booking and paying deposits tonight on everything for a 2022 holiday. I think iv got everything sorted but I'm a bit torn between All-Star Music Resort or All-Star Movies Resort/POP.. All-Star Movies Resort/POP work out roughly the same price and are £450 ish MORE then the Music resort. Apart from décor what makes these hotels worth £450 more? iv looked and I cant see anything that makes it worth it. I think All-Star Movies Resort/POP have had a make over so is that why? Is there no skyliner at Music? Am I missing something? If anyone has stayed at the two and can tell me id be grateful. Im happy to pay the extra if there's a good reason and not just décor. We only plan to use the rooms as a base. We are 2 adults & 2 kids and we will have a hire car to get to and from parks/places as our youngest has autism and it will just make our life easier after a day in the parks Thank you! |

Only Pop has the Skyliner, which is the main reason it's more than All Stars. Movies and Music should be the same price, is Movies only preferred rooms?
Up to you if you want to pay the extra for preferred. Rooms are the same, they're just closer to the main lobby. I'd rather walk an extra few minutes and save the money. ETA: Just noticed you have a car. I definitely wouldn't bother to pay extra for preferred in this case, since parking runs the full length of the resort so you should be able to park reasonably close to whichever building you're in. I have a vague memory at some point they charged more (slightly) for Movies than Music or Sports despite them all being the same, but it’s very vague!
OP we have stayed at them all. The rooms are all the same but with a different theme. My kids did really love Movies because of all the Disney characters everywhere but I personally wouldn’t pay extra over Music for what is the same room and the same location basically. I might might pay more for Pop to have use of the Skyliner but I’m not sure I would pay £450 more.

I'm pretty sure they were the same price (or very close to it) on some random dates I was checking when Music was first released, but it's very hard to find Movies standards now to confirm. But looking at the 2022 rack rates, they are identical.
Standard rooms should be nowhere near Pop price though, which is why I think they're preferred. Edited at 09:59 AM. |

Just double checked… yes its a preferred room at movies. Missed that as I was just looking at the actual price.
I think my kids would overall prefer the Movies room but I just dont think its worth the extra 450 specially as im happy to walk so im happy with a standard room! |

The Movies and Music rooms will be identical now the refurbs are done, as they're using the same All Stars theme. The resorts are also next door to each other, so you can walk over to Movies to look at the external theming, which I agree is better than at Music. They share a car park so you can just cut across that, but there's also a walking path in front of the resorts.
Oh, and a bonus for me over Pop is that there is a HUGE McDonalds at the entrance to the All Stars property. So is great for a cheap meal some days to stretch out those dining credits. |

Movies fine, with the bonus of macdonalds 5 min walk ( no fan but cheap breakfast)
Pools were ok rooms motel style, apart from the buses not many perks, especially with them charging car ≈≈≈≈ng

Perfect then! music it is! would the kids be able to use the movie pool if we are staying in music? doesn't matter if not but I was just curious really. Im guessing i can just walk across and get the skyliner if I wanted?
Mcdonalds will be perfect for the kids a couple of times. Do they accept the Disney dining credit? id guess not but just wondered. I actually much prefer the offer of Disney dining credit and not a actual meal plan. Im much more of a snacker then a full sit down meal kinda person anyway |

Im not expecting anything fancy. It will be our first time and we have a lot planned so just using it as somewhere to shower and sleep but my partner is insisting we stay on site!
Parking is charged at every Disney hotel I think except the duluxe maybe. Its $15 for the value resorts which is fine as I need the convivence of avoiding buses. |

Movies doesn't have the Skyliner. Both resorts are bus only. But yes, you should be able to use any of the pools at All Stars unless that rule has changed with Covid.
McDonalds doesn't accept the credits. It's on Disney property but not part of Disney in the same way the restaurants in Disney Springs are. And I agree, the credits are better for me than the old plan. PS - Deluxes still have to pay for parking too. And it's more than at the values. Only DVC receive free parking, as it's paid for as part of their dues. Edited at 01:59 PM. |
