Dining alone with the opposite sex...

So Mike Pence came out and said he won't dine alone with any woman who isn't his wife - bbc/news/world-us-canada-40473553

From that article, it seems quite a lot of people came out in agreement, whilst others think it demonstrates a lack of self control, trust, etc.

What are your views on it?

I don't think I'd be bothered by it. I was on a work trip last month with a male colleague, with 2 overnight stays, and we ate together. Also, I've been known to meet a male colleague for lunch or coffee for a general chat with a bit of talking shop. Husband doesn't bat an eyelid. But I guess, like most things, context would be everything.

Hubby regularly meets female colleagues for coffee and meeting etc and I've never gave it a second thought tbh.

I wouldn't. Far too many people too fond of gossip where I worked.

I used to be away a lot and often had to take my Secretary who was a married Lady with 2 children. I wouldn't even stay in the same hotel as her let alone dine together. However if we were having a pre meet with others that evening then yes we would stay in the same hotel and all dine together.

I couldn't care about myself but I didn't want her to be talked about.

When I retired I took her out for a very expensive lunch. But I also took another Lady who was my analyst so they had company and nobody could gossip.

Nothing to do with self control or trust but mostly her reputation. Personally I would rather have a decent glass of wine.

Wouldn't bother me at all and it wouldn't bother my husband either.

Happens to both me and my husband within our work settings, don't think anything of it.

On a side note me and OH were chatting at the weekend, as he works away for most of the week he eats out every night generally at the same place, occasionally on his own but more often than not with a colleague, usually a male, OH is well known in this restaurant and if he is on his own they will say to him 'no company tonight Mr ***? this did get him thinking as to whether they think he is some sort of male escort

Doesn't bother us in the slightest. Most of my OH's best friends are female - and I'm friends with all of them. And my best friend is male. Wouldn't even cross either of our minds to be bothered about it!

Depends what the other woman looks like 😉
If he was to meet up for lunch with a Playboy model or equally I was to with Tom Hardy's look a like then no I wouldn't be best impressed 😂
In all fairness he works in the construction industry and I'm a mobile beauty therapist so the chances of us even having a conversation with the opposite sex are very slim
