Black eye!

Any quick remedies? I cracked my eyebrow on the kitchen cupboard yesterday evening but quickly held a bag of frozen peas on it, so although sore, there was no swelling or bruising.
This morning I've got up and my whole eyelid is dark purple and swollen, looks awful. I have had to cancel going to a swimming gala this morning it looks so bad.
Does anyone know how get rid of the bruising/swelling quicker? Is it too late to apply a cold compress once the bruising has come out?
Don't know how I'm going to face work tomorrow

Arnica is used to help bruising. I am not sure how successful it is though...

Poor you..make up to tone it down.

I wouldn't have cancelled the swimming gala and would just get on with it. It probably looks awful but make up can help cover it and you probably would have enjoyed it. As jackster said try arnica. It'll soon fade and hope you don't have any headaches today.

I’d highly recommend Arnica.

I had very bad, extensive bruising to my leg when I recently had a fall. It really helped with the healing process.

Hope you’re O.K.

Thank you all for the sympathy, feeling really sorry for myself today DD is off to Liverpool Christmas shopping so she will pick me up some Arnica cream.

Thanks JP

It's such a beautiful day here, I'm tempted to go with the sunglasses look. But knowing my luck I'd make the sun go in for everyone and I'd look the fool that I feel
