Heating up a slow cooker.

Just bought a new slow cooker and it says to heat it up for 20mins before putting ingredients in. Never done this before, does anyone heat the cooker prior to use?

No never done that. Everything in and off it goes. That's the beauty of a slow cooker

Nope never done that. Unless its a ceramic one and I am putting something boiling hot in (like if I have started it in on the hob to brown etc), then I will warm the slow cooker with hot water to prevent the it cracking

I switch mine on as I’m preparing what’s going in but if it’s been prepped and frozen ,I just bung everything in and switch it on

Never warmed mine up either. I have only recently discovered slow cooker liners. They’re fab ! No more cleaning the thing after use. I’d definitely recommend.

I use the liners too especially if I'm prepping slow cooker meals for the freezer then it's just lift them out put them in the slow cooker bowl to defrost then switch it on when I need too

I always see lots of people saying that the liners are great.

I just stick the pot in the dishwasher. Always comes out clean so not sure what I’m missing.

Mine is a 6.5 litre , I blame DH as I broke my other and this is what he bought me
And it literally fills the dishwasher so I tend to use the liners or Oil spray to stop things sticking.
