Shame on you for buying supermarket meat. My family were all butchers get to your local butcher often cheaper than the supermarket and you are supporting local people rather than multinationals that rip farmers off ! 👍

Agree with this... We just got 2 huge legs of lamb from Asda for £13 and so many pence (can't remember exactly) each.

I know what you mean, we have been thinking chest freezer for the garage just in case the next Zombie apocalypse is around the corner
Problem is the toilet rolls and pasta mountains get in the way

Last week Tesco were advertising lamb shoulder joints (full and half) at £4.25 a kilo if you had a Clubcard - our local Tesco shelves were virtually empty! I prefer shoulder to leg for flavour to be honest.
I agree with Sew109's point about using a local butcher (if you have one) but it isn't always practical. Our nearest local butcher is quite a drive away and it is a lot dearer than the supermarkets but appreciate that isn't the case for everyoneand given the chance I would prefer to use local sources. Interestingly my friends in New Zealand often remark that their lamb is dearer there than we can pay for it in the UK - madness when we have so many great UK producers. Edited at 10:32 AM. |

That must be why the shelves were almost empty then.
We used to have two butchers in the Town (I always laugh when I use that description) but the arrival of Tesco and Lidl and introduction of parking charges saw them go down to one and that is now a specialist sausage shop. |

I love roast lamb (but only when I cook it as I don’t like it pink). Husband doesn’t though so often it’s a Monday roast if he’s on late shift for me and DS .
Aldi’s lamb I find better than either Tesco or ASDA , same with ribeye. |
