Hang fire Steve. I know the pressure is mounting - same with our family too - let's see what tomorrow brings and hopefully it's positive.

Fingers crossed mate.

Agreed on waiting. The PCR aspect seems to be speculation to me. All the draft proposal covered as far as I know was that the test would be 24hrs not 72hrs before departure.

It seems likely that the 3-5 day test may be of the same type as currently for kids...ie people are taking their own LFT kits with them in their cases.

And reports said they would try and make these changes in 1-2 weeks time. So if you are going this week I don't reckon it would affect you at all.

I fly on Monday ( scrambled flight brought forward from 24th Dec )
Ive just changed my Breath Assured test to the day before - namely Sunday rather than Sat…. Just in case

Quaratine wont bother me as Im going for 86 days …… but I can see this would be devastating to anyone on a two week holiday.

I just wanna get on USA soil, through immigration and on my way

The stress is off the chart at the moment ! Xx

They’ve found it in US now. May or may not influence them. It will be spreading all over US already.
Too onerous travel restrictions are pointless.

Interestingly I’m reading in the New York Times, that an order has been issued by the government for the airlines to turn over contact details of passengers from flights from South Africa.
It’s apparent that the CDC then does the contact tracing, testing etc.
This tells me that as a matter of course, the CDC do not have access to the attestation form and other details or even passenger details from planes.
That being the case, how the heck would they ever be able to do a general test and trace, enforcing quarantine etc of everyone coming in?

Ugh. So stressful!
I really feel for anyone going in the next couple of weeks.

Highly doubt our trip will go ahead now.

Fauci is doing a press conference. I didn't catch much of it but by chance there was a question on travel and he said that we will be changing testing requirements to within 1 day (he didn't mention any other restrictions). He actually said within 24 hours of travel but I assume this will remain the previous day of departure.
