True. Both are in easy reach for me and I tend to forget that isn't the case for everyone

We tend to use our Avios either to upgrade from PE to CW or as we did last year blow a load of them on a return CW trip.
I have a vague recollection of upgrading from PE to CW for 50,000 Avios each a few years ago. Do some test PE bookings on the BA site & it will let you know how much Avios it will cost to upgrade. You do have to be quick off the mark as those reward seats get snapped up very quickly when they are released. You can also use Avios to book seats on BA partner airlines as well which can work out costing few less Avios depending on which airline you choose. Head over to the BA section on the Flyer Talk forum, they have a wealth of information on collecting & maximising the value of your Avios.
