Process following a Florida Wedding

Hi all,

Having recently returned from our wedding in Florida, what do we need to do now here in the UK? My wife (British) wants to change her surname to match mine - is it just a case of sending the Marriage Certificate to the passport office asking for it to be changed? Or is there a specific process/forms we need to fill in?

I imagine quite a few have done this on here over the years to grateful of any advice

Many thanks.

If its for a change on name after marriage its a whole new passport you apply and pay for am afraid. You do have to send off your marriage certificate with it. We got married in Austin and I asked for a few copies of the certificate as you need it to change your name anywhere like the bank, driving licence etc.

I left my passport in my maiden name until it expired and just travelled in maiden name until then. Objected to having to pay for a new passport.

I changed my driving licence though so I did have photo ID if needed in my married name.

Most places banks/utilities companies etc just wanted a copy or the original of the certificate. I copied some in colour and sent the copies off as proof. I was never asked for an original but perhaps those receiving didn't know what an original would have looked like any way.
