Moving luggage - idiots guide
OK, so apologies if I have missed information given previously.
I'm just going through my worry stage of holiday planning. We have a split stay between BLT and SSR. We won't have a car so want make use of bell services to transfer our luggage, and groceries that we'll have. 1. How do I go about arranging this? Do I call them from the room before we check out and ask them to collect everything? Or do we take everything to reception at checkout and ask them to take it over? 2. How much and when exactly to tip. 3. Do we go straight to our new hotel so they know we are ready to check on, or wait until 4pm (i've booked a couple of FPs incase)? 4. How do we know when the new room is ready if we are away from the resort? Will a room number appearing on the app signify we can check in? Would I have to had spoken to then at reception for that to happen? 5. What happens on the other end, will they deliver the luggage and groceries automatically? Again apologies for the questions, i just like to know what to do before I get there! |

I’ve done this lots of times. Just get your bags ready and then phone bell services to ask them to pick up from your room. There is a small suitcase icon on the phone dial pad sometimes. When they come to pick up they will give you a ticket stating how many bags and where they are going to. You can go to your next resort and check in if you wish but you don’t need to. When you do get there later in the day you can either pick your bags up from bell services or again phone to have them brought to your room. I tip the pick ups and drop off to the room people. I don’t usually bother waiting for a text I just go to the resort when I think my room will be ready and it usually is. Sometimes there may be a wait for your bags if they are busy but that is all. Generally it all works really well.

Thank you, this has made me feel more comfortable with the process.
I think we'll call them just before we check out then, get the bags taken then and make our way to HS. Then go to the new hotel around 4ish and pick up our bags ourselves when we check in. Should we tip bell services when we collect the bags too? How much is the norm? |

It is very easy and you can ask a cast member at reception if you need any info. I don’t usually tip at Bell services, just the ones who pick up or deliver my bags. Some people may do but it isn’t expected.

You may want to pre book your collection time. If you phone about 10.45 bell services will be manic!

Hi. Yes you can. I always ring circa 6.00pm for a 10.45am collection the next day for them to come and take my Owners Lockers.
You mentioned tipping. I tip $2 each for my Lockers. But if I am feeling generous I give them $5. They weigh a ton!

Sorry to jump in, I had a similar question and it seems silly to start a new thread when it's related to the OP's question.
We are planning a one night stay at a value resort on arrival day before moving to AKL for our on-site stay. As we'll be up stupidly early, our plan had been to check out of that hotel, go and check in at AKL (if possible that early in the morning - I know we couldn't get to our room) and then head to a park for rope drop. What time should we request they pick up our bags if we wanted to get to 8.00 am opening? What is the best way to get from one resort to the other? Minnie van?

There are a number of ways to approach this.
Actually you dont have to physically check out of the Value Resort and you dont have to physically check in to AKL. So you could get Bell services to collect your luggage from the Value at a time to suit you with instructions to take it to AKL and you could head to a Park. AKL will send you an E Mail with your room number indicated sometime circa 4.00pm. If you do want to check in to AKL that can be done from 6.00am but as you say they wont allocate your room and as above you will get an E Mail later on. Sadly due to our unique phone numbers they dont text the details. The Minnie Vans are good but my they are expensive! I would be using an Uber if you do the Value to AKL option.
