Applying for an ITIN
I hope someone can help.
We are considering renting our points through the DVC Rental Store. However, before we can do this they have said that we need to apply for an ITIN by completing a W-7 form. That sounded easy enough until I reached the question on the form asking me why i was submitting the form. Can anyone help me with which of the 8 answers I should be ticking please? Thank you.

Sooty can't help with your question as not used that rental company but it sounds complicated and we have never been asked when using other rental agents 😳

If you use David's to rent your points out you don't have to bother with all that form filling. They're based in Canada so not subject to US tax regulations.

Thank you both for your replies.
Can I ask what rental companies you use then please?

I think almost everyone here has used David's, he gets consistently good reviews.

I've bought a 50 year agreement. If I'm renting my points out at any time there is no way I'd risk that 50 year commitment by dodging tax.
It's all very well saying it doesn't matter and David doesn't hold back the tax etc, but that would be useless if I was stopped at immigration. After reading up the offsets can be made for the dues and the capital element of the initial purchase. It's not going to be $$$$, but being turned back at immigration would be. |

I've rented my points out with David's dvcrequest and have always found them to be very efficient. You are paid 70% once you have made the reservation, then the remaining 30% as soon as the guest checks in.
Many members on this site use him and I've not yet heard of anyone being questioned at immigration for "tax evasion" - I certainly haven't had any problems |
