From Boston to Miami the long way Day 6
29th July Sunday
Chincoteague to Shenandoah Not many photos today due to it being a travel day. Up and off in good time this morning 7.50 am in fact and off to the Rehoboth Beach outlets and the nearby Walmart for supplies. As we will be at Skyland for 3 nights we decided to get stuff for breakfast and more drinks etc. Got to Walmart at 9.45 and after shopping and a $190 bill what! We got a Subway lunch $34 for the 5 of us. Then it was a very quick trip to the outlets. I got a A&F sweatshirt for $25 and a dark blue Hollister padded coat $34 reduces from $90 which I was particularly pleased with. A flying visit to Yankee Candle for some bits and $17 later we were on our way again. As the outlets and Walmart were in Delaware all purchases were tax free which was good. Eldest went looking for Vans but didn’t see anything he fancied. He did manage a pair of Levi shorts for $30 but that was it. By this time DH was getting antsy, even after buying himself a new coat, about getting on the road and with a 4.30hr Drive I couldn’t argue. So despite there being lots more shopping to be done I had to behave and set the the tomtom to Skyland Resort and we were off. The weather has been fab again today 80 or higher all day but we’ve been driving all day so not seen much of it. Boys have been good though and only had minor bickering. Passed Washington oh so slowly about 2.30 with another 2 hrs to go. We entered the National Park at Thornton Gap cost $30 for the car. From there we started the drive along Skyline Drive which runs the entire length of the Blue Ridge Mountains to Smokey Mountains. Sure is pretty. And we liked it! We ended up arriving at Skyland finally about 5 so it was a long day and everyone was fed up and glad to be there. We were in Laurel Lodge no97 on the ground floor. Everyone wa pleased with the room which is quite spacious, has ensuite bathroom, tv and balcony but no microwave or fridge. The view is beautiful from the balcony and the thought of 3 night here is very appealing. We got food at the dining hall, eldest opting for chicken and mash and the rest of us having fish n chips. Food was ok but with 2 beers and 3 cokes the meal was $113 which I felt was expensive for what it was. Had a quick look round the gift shop then to the room for a relax. DH had a couple of beers but we all had a reasonably early night think it all caught up with us a bit.

Shenandoah looks lovely looking forward to seeing your time there and stay at Skyline. We are there in just over a months time and also staying at Skyline.
What type of room did you book and was it near main building?
