What & where was the best "off-menu" vegetarian meal

One thing that a lot of the world has not caught up with is vegetarian meals. Even things described as vegetarian often aren't.

Many people have mentioned that when dining on-site that the chefs are happy to conjure up a vegetarian alternative.

What have been people's experiences? What and where have you enjoyed a bespoke "veggie" meal?

Not me personally, but my friend is a vegetarian. While planning our trip for later this month, I was surprised when she said she wanted to join us at 'Ohana, since I tend to think of it as a carnivore's paradise. She said she has had one of the best vegetarian meals she's ever had there. The chef comes out and speaks to you personally to see what you like/don't like and then prepares something accordingly, just for you.

Had that meal at Ohanas too great meal but I found all that meat and fish being brought round all the time very off putting.
One of the best is apparently at Trails End. Chef TJ has amazing revues if you are vegan, vegetarian or have allergies. I have booked this year so really looking forward to it.
My biggest no no is when you order a vegetarian meal and then the chef brings out the Parmesan and then looks surprised when you tell them it's not vegetarian.

Chef TJ used to be the chef at 'Ohana so that would explain a lot then

Yep...we were served an Ice Cream sundae smothered in marshmallows! Sent it back and it came back with the marshmallows embeded inside the sundae, like that was better!

Chef TJ at Trail’s End was the best by a mile! We had 7 vegan friendly courses at the dinner buffet, specially made for us. Highly recommend!

While I'm not a vegetarian and don't know all the best related restaurants, I have eaten at Sweet Tomatoes a lot. It's hard to beat their quality and value and they have lots of convenient locations.

I cannot recommend Trails End enough, Chef TJ is amazing. I am vegetarian. When you go, say you are vegan (trust me) and you will get the works.

First he takes you round the buffet and explains everything you can have, then he says "I'll be back", so don't go crazy on the buffet, then he creates a wondeful 7 course meal that ends with the best/coolest dessert ever. Just fantastic. We were $30 a head for this in May, I believe it has seasonal prices.

It's better to go to trails end a bit earlier, around 5ish, I didn't know this until after (we went at 7pm), purely because if it's busy, he hasn't got as much time to spend with you.

Another great restaurant is Season's 52 (offsite), they are great at catering for veggies.
