Weird smell/taste from drinks fountains

Is it just me or do the fizzy drinks from the fountains around WDW have a strange after taste from the water?

I find that it is the ice that has the strange taste because of the water although not nearly as bad as my first visit as a child - I loathed the taste of the ice.

I have always thought the tap water, and therefore the ice, tastes strange in the States. I think it's something to do with the water treatment that's used over there. I think we get spoilt a bit with our rather lovely spring based tap water in Yorkshire! I think it's the only thing I'd miss if we were to relocate to the States (as is my ambition!)

My Dad always said I was "just awkward" lol, but I always thought their tap water tastes a tiny bit "chlorine"like?! Which is fair enough as it obviously means it is clean lol, but not the best to drink! lol

At least its not just me then! I only figured out it was the water as the shower had a similar smell.

one year we went it was really bad, almost like sulphur; however last few times have been fine. I think I read before it's to do with how low the water reservoirs are .. seemed to make sense to me. (worse with no rain / heavy rainfall.)

I can't even have tea from tap water over there as it seems to leave a film over the top so put bottled water in the kettle to boil

I wondered if something had changed as I always used to hate the way the water smelled, and I could taste it in some of the fizzy drinks there, and ice too - but the last few trips I don't notice it much at all?
