Day11: Trader Sams

We ended the day with dinner at Trader Sam’s which is at the Disneyland Hotel. We have never made it to the namesake establishment in WDW Orlando as it has had a long wait when we tried. Here, Trader Sam’s is bookable and I got a last minute reservation.

We were asked whether we preferred a table inside or outside and whilst I wanted to see a quirky (presumably) interior, the live music, heat lamps and general buzz of the outside area was too appealing to turn down. After settling in at our table, I ordered the Hawaiian burger with a Polynesian Punch to drink and Nev went for the Tonkotsu Ramen with an IPA.

I don’t know exactly what was in my drink, the menu mentions hibiscus grenadine and Sam’s gorilla grog, whatever that may be. It had the best kick of any of the mocktails I have had so far on the trip though, very nice. My Hawaiian burger was topped with bacon and pineapple, a lovely barbecue-like sauce, and served with sweet potato fries, made a good dinner.

Nev thought his meal was above average but would stop short of good as the noodles were stodgy and stuck together, which spoiled his enjoyment of an otherwise good broth.

A well priced dinner ($56 pre tip) and overall we enjoyed Trader Sam’s and would happily go back.

Shame about the noodles, but Trader Sam's looks pretty good and the price is very reasonable for on site too.

It was lovely ambience, service was good to and nice to have a slightly cheaper evening to balance out some others!

I hadn’t realised it was sweet potato fries when I ordered, so it was a nice surprise and yes they were good fries.

The noodles let the dish down a bit, the first thing Nev said was that the noodles were moulded into the shape of the bowl at the bottom! He still enjoyed the venue though.

I was just browsing around the dining and pounced when I spotted this one. Really pleased to get in.
