Can I Parboil potatoes & parsnips today?
As per the title, could I parboil these today, put in a ziplock bag then roast tomorrow? Would do them later tonight.
Thanks |

I always prep parsnips the day before using Delia Smith's recipe - par boil for 3 minutes then roll in a mix of flour and parmesan then lay out on a baking tray ready for tomorrow.
I usually do the potatoes on the day but Mary Berry has a recipe that includes instructions for part cooking a day ahead... maryberry/recipes/...roast-potatoes |

yeah, its fine. i tend to parboil a load all at once and freeze half of it for another time. just make sure you pat them down with a paper towel, as they go quite claggy and sticky if left to cool whilst wet
i dont use water in a pan though, too easy to go over and turn to mush, i put them in a tub (or covered bowl) and microwave to steam them, much gentler and harder to mess up. 5 mins is enough, if you want to make mash, 10-12 mins |

Just finished prepping all my veg, first time I’ve done so much in advance.
It’s all in foil trays that can be thrown afterwards so will go straight from fridge to oven and not much clearing up afterwards. I’ve even made the broccoli and cauliflower cheese ready to go straight in. Hoping tomorrow will be more relaxing with family rather than being stuck in the kitchen. Only thing to do in the morning is cook and carve the turkey, everything else is oven ready then straight to plates. |

I do all my veg apart from potatoes, I always find they taste odd the next day. X
