Best place to stay in the Keys please?
Hi guys
I have not been on here in forever but planning a little Florida trip in November (fingers crossed) We want to do Orlando, Miami and The Keys and wanted to stay in the Keys for 6 nights but having a main base where we can walk to restaurants and bars and preferably near a beach. We will be driving to the other Keys to see everything but just need a nice base. Was not sure if to stay at Key West or a different Key if that makes sense Any recommendations of locations mainly and budget hotels would be amazing Thanks t xx

We stayed on Key West at a lovely place called Courtneys Place (on bookings.com) they do studios, 1 and 2 bed appartments, breakfast is included. We stayed for 3 nights and intended to visit the other Islands from there, but never actually left Key West as there was so much to see and do

We always stay the the Best Western Hibiscus, Key West, it’s at the west end of Simonton (parallel to Duval and just round the corner from the Southernmost Buoy), nice and quiet but easily walkable to the Bars. We always rent bikes too which is great fun. Islamorada, we choose Breezy Palms, it’s a cheap and cheerful, motel style property within easy walking distance to Lazy Days restaurant and bar (close to Robbies too) if you prefer something fancier try Amara Cay. Gilbert’s Resort in Key Largo has a great tiki bar and beautiful sunsets too.

Caribbean Resort in Islamorada is beautiful. A couple of restaurants that are walk-able but a minimum of 5 night stay.
Would stay there again in a heart beat. Tracey x

Hiya Tracy we are in the middle of booking hotels for the Keys at the moment. Have a good look around. I was surprised at how expensive some of the hotels are!

We have just booked our second Keys trip
We went in Dec 19 and only had 3 nights - half of which we spent sorting out a broken hire car So we are going back - 5 nights in Key west and 4 nights in Key Largo. We are going back to Speakeasy Inn on Duval Street - but at the quieter end. Yes there are fancier places, and there is no pool, but wow! some of the prices are way out of our league. They have given us a price of $200 a night plus tax (our dates are not yet on their website so i emailed them directly). We have a little studio with a balcony, and spent a few great hours on the main balcony outside the bar area with a cocktail! We are then staying at Atlantic Bay resort in Key Largo for 4 nights. For us its over what we would like to pay but it seems the going rate! |

We stayed at The Pier House (Number 1 Duval Street) and it was fantastic. Gorgeous pool and beach area and only 2 minutes walk from Mallory Square. They do also have golf buggy’s to drive you up and down Duval Street should you wish. We loved it and will hopefully be back there for my husband’s 50th this year! 😁
