Virgin Companion voucher
We are hoping to go to WDW May 2023 upper class using our reward points from our Virgin credit card. We also have a companion voucher.
When the time comes to book I will phone Virgin to see which is the best option ie buy one upper class cash and use companion and points for the other. Buy one premium cash etc etc. Because of availability, it looks like the best thing to do is book the outbound leg then the inbound and have it converted to a return but how does that work with a companion voucher? Does doing it this way turn the companion voucher into a single journey only? So if you book a return flight cash your companion voucher is a return and if you book outbound only your voucher is single too? Hopefully this makes sense what I’m trying to ask!

When you book one way half of the companion stays in your account ready for use on the next one way leg.

Fabulous thank you. I was worried I would lose out by booking separate legs.

Can I ask how you find out on your status of companion vouchers please.
We got a VA credit card 2019 so after the first year of use the pandemic hit so never really followed it up, but expecting we should have at least 2 companion vouchers from this.

I think there is a difference between companion vouchers and reward vouchers.
I think companion vouchers are those you use miles for when buying a flight. And reward vouchers are the free ones you get from the credit card to use with miles flights. I was told recently by virgin that you can't use 2 reward vouchers on the same booking. Sometime may know better than me though.

There is no difference between the vouchers - it's one voucher with different usage options. You can't use two on the same passenger.

I sent a Text to the VA Team and they responded with not only what I am holding but also the respective expiry dates of them. The dates was what I was after. They responded in about 36 hours.

Sorry to be a pain but can you use a companion voucher and reward points for the same passenger? Depending on availability, cost etc we may book one premium cash booking and use a companion voucher to get the same. Can we then upgrade both to Upper using rewards points?
I think I read that if we had a cash booking for upper for example, we could use the companion voucher for a premium seat then the points to upgrade would be 50% of the usual points cost. We are not sure which is the best way but will speak to the Flying Club when I see reward flights available. Do there have to be reward flights available to book the companion seat or is it classed as a cash booking?
