Tamiami Trail

We will be heading down to Key Largo in a couple of days, travelling from Cape Coral. Hit me with your ideas of what to stop for along the way please.

Breakfast at Mels Diner (if you haven't already) - the Bonita Springs one is a lovely shiny silver. There's airboat rides just before Fort Lauderdale (assuming I75) at the Everglades Holiday Park. Get down to Homestead and there's the Fruit and Spice Park for the best bananas picked fresh from the tree, and then get a smoothie and some amazingly different fruit from the Robert is Here stand. That would make a great travel day IMO.

Interested in this too.
If the Mel's diner is the same as San FRan it's lovely.

Stop and maybe send a postcard from The Ochopee post office, the smallest post office in the US.

Thanks all. We stopped at Mel’s Diner at Bonita Springs and sent a postcard to my Mum from the smallest post office and then chose to do an airboat ride at Coopertown. I picked up a Groupon as we drove along - 4 adults for $59. That was a mistake! As we headed out it started to rain and we ended up drenched. Those raindrops really hurt when you are whizzing about on the airboat!
