A 'which hotel' question.. NY for 2 adults and 2 teenagers
Hi all
we are booked for NY 3 nights early November, 2 adults and 2 teenagers (DS16 and DD 14). Kids have never been so they will want to be in the middle of all the action and do the tourist stuff. We have 2 hotels booked on cancellable rates. Hotel Stanford, just off times Sq, a triple room. Sohotel, Triple room. Sohotel looks nicer as is a bit newer but I'm thinking the Stanford might be a better location with less travel required on the subway? All opinions welcomed. Thanks, JJ |

Definitely the Sohotel. Definitely.
Times Square is nice to visit... but I wouldn't want to be based there. Too loud and busy all the time. Sohotel is in a nice area. More variety. You'll see more interesting parts of the city. Little Italy. The food! If you're in NYC for more than a day or two, stay at the Sohotel and take the subway. Lower Manhattan! See beyond the touristy areas. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Agreed , just like I'd never stay on Leicester Square I wouldn't stay right on Times Square. The gaps between subway stations are even less than the London Underground so everywhere is easy and quick to get to.

Hotel Beacon upper west side. Round the corner from the natural history museum and central park. Next to a subway station. Supermarket over the road and the rooms have small kitchenettes in them.

Stay on Times Square, right in the action, that is what a trip to New York is all about!

I’ve booked Hotel Beacon after reading some good reviews on here. We’ve booked a suite so my teen girls get their own room. Plus it has a mini kitchenette which will be useful.
Booked through travel bag. Got a great deal for next May. Kat

We have just come back from New York Thursday and stayed at downtown Manhattan at a lovey hotel Club Quarters Hotel World Trade Centre, right by 9/11 Memorial Park and 9/11 Museum, 15 min walk to Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island ferry also the free Staten Island ferry, Brooklyn Bridge not far. The Oculus is fab to look round that is were the Subway station is Via Howard Beach - JFK Airport . The hotel has a free Snack Attack station includes can drinks coffee/ tea machine

Thanks for all the suggestions/opinions. We ended up booking radio city apps, good reviews and the set up looks perfect for us, will review once back. Wanted to be in the heart of things for the kids first trip.
