Just back from Christmas in New York

Hi, we got back yesterday, had ana amazing five days, can't believe how quick it went, doesn't seem like we've been and are already home again! We stated at the Marriott Marquis Times Sq, amazing Vegas style hotel, great location and facilities. Times Sq was mad, sooo busy, really was 24hr busy! Loved it though.

We went to Central Park, the zoo, Fifth Ave shops, Radio City Music Hall, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Katzs Deli, Friends Building, Circle Line sunset cruise, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, One World Trade Centre, 9/11 memorial, Macy's, Bloomingdales, and went to some great restaurants, best were Katzs for massive sandwiches, Shake Shack burgers, Virgils BBQ and Southern Hospitality BBQ, also the Irish bars had great food and drinks and so cosy at Christmas!

Flights with BA were great, terminal 7 at JFK awful though, never seen such bad immigration queues and so hot. At departures there's hardly any seating at the gates :-(. We got upgraded to World Traveller Plus on way home which was nice way to finish our trip.

If anyone has any questions, please ask away!

It sounds like you had a great time. We're doing 5 days in NYC in July! Want to do all the attractions, I'd planned on totr, empire state, 9/11, radio city (as my mum said it was brilliant), natural history museum (as kids love night at the museum) and will book up statue of liberty. Did you buy tickets in advance? I'm thinking of the new york Explorer pass for 5 or 7 attractions. It is available from attractions tickets direct and says it has skip the lines privilege too.

I tried to talk to DH about where to visit and the only place he really wanted to go to was Katz diner, glad to see this was good food. Did you make a reservation or just turn up?

TIA

We are doing 2 days in July. I need to pick through your list and find the highlights for a whistle stop tour.

I'm off the end of August for 5 nights. I'm going to see the US open tennis for 3 days. I got direct flights from Manchester with virgin for £401. Now off to book a hotel.

We just got back today too! Times Square was manic - especially on Friday (we didn't go near it yesterday! )

For sOL, if you want to go up the Crown you need to book 6m in advance (there are only 405 tickets each day!).

I did a live trippy (see my siggy )

Hi, we booked everything in advance, was so much easier just to turn up with our print outs and get them scanned and off we go. Often the queue was much longer to purchase tickets first. Katz's was great, we got a cab there and joined a queue, it went really quick though, about 10mins and we were in there. It was a really buzzing place, so busy but quite organised, you're given a ticket that you keep hold of and they write what you ordered and you pay on the way out with the ticket, keep hold of it, even if everyone doesn't order anything. It was a really great New York experience.
