Loved captain Harold ... we have done this trip many times and each one has been different!
And yes you can tip the captain.

We did this 3 weeks ago and it was amazing. We gave our Captain a $30 tip, he kept us out of the rain and we saw 3 mums and a 2 year old. He earned it, there was 5 of us.

We love Spirit of the Swamp. On our last trip our captain really looked after us (one DD had a really bad panic attack) and he was very concerned and went out of his way to make sure she was ok. I would think $5 a person is acceptable, although we tipped him $40 as we thought he went "above and beyond".

I think you'll find there is a small sign at the front of the boat suggesting you tip, there certainly was when we went the other week.

Having said that I wouldn't tip simply because of that but the trip itself was superb and tipped $20 for the three of us.

Can't remember which captain we had but he was superb and had a very interesting take on the gator incident at the Grand Floridian a year or two back.
