Barkers go Westside April 2018 : Day One - Universal

I had a good nights sleep only woke at 2am then 6am. I would have slept for longer but Darren kept trying to wake me as he couldn't sleep!

Our little bungalow room.

Darren's new toy!
We got ready and went to have breakfast. The breakfast here as the only thing to let this hotel down. There was basics available scrambled eggs, bagels, bread, fruit and tea, coffee and juice. All self service and you had to wash up afterwards. I had fruit and my own fruit bread I brought last night at Ralphs. Sorry don't know why but never took any pics of the breakfast room.
We walked to Universal it only took 20 minutes.

View up the hill to Universal. Waiting for the bus. Although a short walk it was a large hill and wanted to save my energy!
We were there just after 9 which is a first for us I normally love a lie in but thanks to jet lag no luck today.

We headed straight to Forbidden Journey.

This was a first for me as previously it had either been down or a really long wait in Orlando. I absolutely loved this ride I was a little concerned it would make me feel queasy but I was fine.
Next we went on Dispicable me then the studio tour. The studio tour was great loved seeing all the hollywood film sets and the king kong and fast and the furious 3d ride part was a great bonus.
After this we had lunch at Luigis Pizza. Darren had a slice of pizza and I had gf pasta with a marinara sauce and chicken. It was good but very large portion.

My gf/df pasta

After lunch we watched the Waterworld show, then transformers twice, Krustyland, animal actors show, special effects show and to finish another ride on forbidden journey.

I just love how pretty the surrounding area is and you often get a great view over the LA hills.

By now it was 5.30 so we went to get dinner at Margritaville in Citywalk. This was our first time at this restaurant and I loved the chilled holiday vibe.

I had a chicken sandwich and chips in a gf roll and Darren had beef and chicken kebabs. Sorry no pics of this one! We came back and chilled out watching some tv. After doing 22,000 steps my legs were tired!
Tomorrow we are at Universal for the morning and the Warner Brothers Studio tour in the afternoon.

Did you book GoLA type pass or pay individually for Universal/WB Studios?

Hi we paid separately. I went through ATD I did look at the GoLA card but wasn’t cost effective. I think it was because we wanted two days at universal.
