Having spent time looking for official mention of this- I have found very little

If they need to change anything, they now have the capacity to close a third of the loading - if the third track needs a huge amount of redesign and building of bridges etc -it will show just how short sighted their thoughts have been.

The word inept begins to creep into my vocabulary to describe what they are doing at DHS.

We are going in April and I’m disappointed that this will more than likely now be fully closed.
I was hoping they would have the foresight to do a phased change over. Three tracks, so close one or two for the new entrance, keep one open at the old entrance
Then open toy story land with two tracks at the new entrance and close the last track
Maybe that’s too much common sense

Surely it would make sense to do as much as possible whilst the 3rd track is down and then, once TSL soft opens for a few weeks, close it so they can finish off the re-routing in the queue etc. That way slinky dog and the alien saucer ride is open unofficially and guests aren't quite so peeved. The land then has its grand opening and TSM is back in full operation with new entrance.

Not to mention my favourite restaurant (to date) in Disney World - The Brown Derby.
Sorry to go slightly off topic but what are the two night time spectaculars? I am just in planning mode for our first trip since 2014 so a little out of the loop. We have done Fantasmic a couple of times but I thought that was now no longer happening.

Fantasmic is still going and depending on when you go there are various different projection and fireworks show relating to either Star Wars and seasonal stuff.

I've been thinking about this more and I suspect they're doing the third track now so they can test the new load areas. They haven't confirmed any dates for the next phase of closures, it may well not be until very close to the time.

But in all honesty, they don't really seem to care that much about p*ssing off guests (as multiple closures seem to have little effect on attendance rates) so it could well shut down for an extended period. Like when they closed Splash for several weeks in the middle of summer last year.

Fantasmic is still running.

The other is the SW fireworks, although I can't see confirmed show times for it past the end of April at the moment. But I suspect this is nothing to be concerned about - more than likely them reworking the HS schedule due to TSL, or just being slow to confirm times.

Didn't think they needed to close the original load areas as most of the work can be done without effecting them and they would only need a few days to connect the new entrance to the original load areas. So I doubt it would be totally closed if at all until just before the Toy Story land opens.

The park is still a must do for Star Wars fans I suppose, even before SW Land opens - Star Tours, Jedi training for the kids, SW Fireworks, Stormtrooper parade, meet & greets and memorabilia at the launch pad, frequent SW show in front of the theatre ... these and other shows, along with the shops, Fantasmic and the couple of 'big' rides left would fill a day in, especially if like us you take the weight off your feet at the Brown Derby lounge and the Baseline Tap House

I Really hope you're right, we all loved TSM and my youngest child (who has a learning disability) REALLY loved it. Fingers crossed...

Disney have already closed the third track.

See the following:

The above covers the facts that are known at this time. The rest is speculation.
